With the deepening of China's reform and opening up, the demand for all kinds of talents has increased, including foreign talents. Based on this background, Zhongguancun Talent Association, as an NGO focused on the field of talent, provides a platform for foreigners to share and communicate with each other so that they can express their ideas and opinions on living, studying, employment and entrepreneurship in China. Meanwhile, it can provide more references for related industries, enterprises, and even relevant government departments to create a more livable environment for foreign friends. We are pleased to invite Ms. PAOLA, she is from Peru, a South American country. She has been living in China for almost 6 years since coming to China as an international student in 2017. Paula’s native language is Spanish, and she speaks fluent English and good Chinese. Currently, she works as a Global Talent Aquisition Consultant for HelloCareer, a global hiring solutions provider in Beijing. Q: When did you come to China? Why did you choose your current major and career field？

A: The first time I came to China was in 2017. I studied Chinese at Nanjing University for one year. One year later, in 2019, I returned to Central University of Finance and Economics to study for a master's degree. I have lived in Beijing since 2019. At the end of my studies, like many fresh graduates, I accidentally entered the HR sector, specifically recruiting foreign talents for Chinese companies. Although I entered this field in this unexpected way, it attracted my attention. I stayed here because it provides a broad learning space, we cooperate with many companies committed to different industries including internet, video games, automotive, broadcasting and media production, international trading, biotechnology, high-tech manufacturing and so on.
A： 我第一次来中国是在2017年，在南京大学学了一年中文。一年后的2019年，我又回来了，在中央财经大学攻读硕士学位，自2019年以来我一直居住在北京。
在快要毕业的时候，和许多应届生一样，由于一个偶然的机会，我进入了人力资源领域工作，专门为中国公司招聘外国人才。尽管我是以意想不到的方式进入了这个领域，但它吸引了我。我留下来是因为它提供了广阔的学习空间，我们与各种不同行业的公司合作，涉及互联网、游戏、汽车、广电传媒、国际贸易、生物科技、科技制造等不同领域。
Q: What appeals you most in China? What is your favorite city in China?

A: What appeals to me the most about China is its technology and convenience. China's technology and connectivity only exist in the imagination of people in many other countries. Although the interconnection and storage of population data is a controversial topic in many parts of the world, it has obvious benefits for the convenience of living in China, especially in big cities such as Beijing.
Another characteristic that still impresses me, and I consider amazing is the blending of technology and tradition, despite China being one of the major developed countries, It has made great efforts to protect its traditions and customs.
I have had the experience of living in ancient and modern capitals of China, as well as the opportunity to travel to many other cities, all of which have factors that help foreigners easily adapt. One of the cities that attracts my great attention is Hangzhou, which is a city without the pressure of a metropolis like Beijing and still provides many job and entertainment opportunities.

Q: How do you think of opportunities in the China? How do you view tech and digital economy progress in your industry in recent years?

A: In terms of talent recruitment, opportunities are very wide due to government support for enterprises. The Chinese industry needs and is seeking many experts from various departments and at different levels. The characteristic of Chinese companies is to receive foreign talents in the best way, but as demand increases, the market also becomes very competitive, which makes more and more foreigners get more specializations to make a difference in the Chinese labor market. Language is one of the most basic and common requirements.
The development of technology and the digital economy have had a huge impact on our customers and thus on our company. The development of Chinese technology has enabled many companies to improve their process generating more production and thus not only to cover the domestic market in China but also to seek expansion and business opportunities in other regions of the world. Therefore, they need support of local talent in these different markets to help them achieve their goals and implement globalization strategies.
Here, our company provides service, we must immerse ourselves in these trends to support our clients in establishing connections with the best talents in different regions and industries around the world. We go out to find talents that can get along with our clients and seek benefits for both parties.

A: After the epidemic, as China opened up to the world again, our demand significantly increased in just four months, which can be compared to the growth of the whole last year. The perspective of talents has also changed. Previously, due to restrictions, some new talents had concerns about relocating or moving to China for a career change. One of the most significant changes regarding the future is that customers are more open to remote work, which was not popular before the pandemic.
